8 EASY Steps to Boost Your Immune System with Reiki

by Laurelle Shanti Gaia

Reiki is a complementary healing system for;

  • stress reduction
  • relaxation
  • spiritual growth
  • enhancing immune function
  • healing and increasing physical energy
  • and much more

Our physical body is alive because of the ‘life force energy’ (also known as chi, prana, mana, ki) which flows through it. If our life force is weak or blocked, we are more likely to get sick, but if it is high and free flowing, we more easily maintain health and a feeling of well-being.

One thing that disrupts and weakens the flow of ‘life force energy’ is stress. Stress is often caused by conflicting thoughts and feelings that get lodged in one’s subtle energy system. These include fear, worry, doubt, anger, anxiety, etc. Medical research has determined that continual stress can block the body’s natural ability to repair, regenerate and protect itself. The American Institute of Stress estimates that 75%-95% of all visits to doctors are the results of reaction to stress. The effects of unreleased stress range from minor aches to major health concerns, such as heart disease, digestive disorders, respiratory and skin problems.

It is our immune system’s “job” to help us avoid infections and disease. The immune system relies on a healthy supply of white blood cells. Stress, as well as lack of exercise and nutrients, can reduce or weaken our white blood cell count.

We have choices regarding our level of exercise, and the foods we select, but it is more challenging to manage the stressors in our life.

Reiki aids the body in releasing stress and tension by creating deep relaxation and medical studies have shown that Reiki goes beyond simple relaxation. Reiki boosts the strength of white blood cells.

In a study conducted by the Helfgott Resarch Institute; patients who received Reiki experienced enhanced red and white blood cell counts. Conversely patients who were in corresponding control groups experienced very little change (Hodsdon, W., Mendenhall, E., Green, R., Kates-Chinnoy,S., Wacker, E, & Zwickey, H. “The Effect of Reiki on the Immune System”. Helfgott Research Institute at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Portland, Oregon, USA)

This study helps to support what people who receive regular Reiki sessions already know. Reiki boosts our immune function.

By simply receiving Reiki sessions, or treating oneself, our immune system can grow stronger. However, there are things you can do to enhance sessions. For example the health of our thymus gland is important to immune function.

Applying Reiki with special attention to the thymus gland can be very helpful in boosting immunity. The thymus is located in the upper chest in an area between the heart and the throat. We also have a chakra that helps to move life force energy through our thymus gland.  We can help to strengthen the flow of energy through the thymus by combining Reiki with our breath. .

This process is very simple. You will create a pathway for Reiki to travel on your breath. This process will open, cleanse and balance the chakra as well as clear a path for energy to flow through the mental/emotional/mental bodies. This allows an open channel for light from your spiritual body (which connects with Source/God/Universe) to nourish your entire being.

Breathing process to enhance immune function:

  1. Activate Reiki energy and the Usui Reiki power/focus symbol (CKR).
  2. Place one hand over the area of your thymus, and the other hand over your solar plexus (area just above the navel)
  3. Next bring your attention to the thymus chakra.
  4. Draw, visualize, activate or imagine the CKR an arm’s length out in front of you at the level of the chakra.
  5. Now Draw, visualize, activate or imagine a CKR in the center of the chakra inside your body.
  6. Next Draw, visualize, activate or imagine a CKR and arm’s length behind you, at the level of the chakra
  7. Now inhale and bring light, on your breath, from the CKR in the front, straight into the chakra and allow it to pass through to the back of your body until it reaches the CKR in back.
  8. Next exhale and send the light on the breath from the back of your body to the front…Continue this process for several “cycles” and then breathe normally.

The process described above can be very powerful, and it is a good idea to practice this when you will have time to rest afterward and integrate the energetic shifts that it will produce over the next few hours.

Please also remember the importance of staying hydrated with pure water, and eating good portions of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains.  A good multi-vitamin/mineral food supplement can help as well. Zinc has been shown to be an important nutrient for healthy immune function. (ie. wheat germ, pumpkin/squash/watermelon seeds, organic dark chocolate, peanuts.)

It is my sincere prayer that this article is helpful and that you are able to achieve and maintain a strong state of health and wellbeing, so you are always able to enjoy the infinite blessings that are available to you.

Wishing you love, peace and infinite blessings,
