Aegina is the chosen place to come together

Aegina is the chosen place to come together to put aside our differences and celebrate our sameness.  This unique opportunity has a great appeal to me and many others from different schools of Reiki who have been talking about how to bridge our communities and unite in the essence of Reiki, which is divine unconditional love. As one who has practiced Reiki for many years,  it has become apparent what is needed now is to respect our differences and put them aside, and make time to come together to share the wisdom of Reiki. Our practices have matured, and what would be useful is to support and further educate ourselves not only to deepen our practical experience, but allow ourselves to surrender into this spiritual system.

As a community of differing philosophies that  as at times been at odds with one another, I feel our next step is to unite in a common effort. We all are passionate about Reiki an have been a witness to the miracles that occur with Reiki.
We have deep feelings about it's importance in the manifestation of peace , harmony and health of people and the planet. It is time to demonstrate to the world at large that we are together in a common vision for Reiki. It is time for us to be responsible for creating harmony in our community.

initial meeting and conerence

We will meet on Wednesday  the 28th  0f May 2003 at the Dorian Inn in Athens which has double occupancy rooms. There will be  a special bus tour of important energy sites in Athens and a Greek dinner with music the next day (Thursday.) On  Friday the 30th of May we will transfer by bus to the port of Piraeus and board a hydrofoil aptly named "The Flying Dolphin" for the 45 minute journey to the island. Upon arrival we will register for the conference, settle in and later meet for a lovely Greek lunch together. Perhaps the evening will be spent watching the sun dip into the blue  Saronic Gulf  Sea. Sunsets and sunrises are the most beautiful sights in Greece. The conference starts on Saturday after a leisurely breakfast so we can overcome jet lag and be ready to be together for the next 6 days.

aegina a seductive island with idyllic landscapes
Aegina, come explore it with us.

Aegina... a seductive island with idyllic landscapes and a vivid nature elements. Situated on the Western Side of the Island is the city of Aegina with a population of 6,000 +, the second largest in Greece after Piraeus. Before Athens, it was the capitol city of Greece. When approaching the city by sea, the first sight is the small and picturesque church of Aghios Nikolaos that is sitting on a jetty on the waterfront. Capodistrias built the harbor using the stones from the ruins of Kolona. Aegina has a past as ancient Greece itself and is deeply rooted in Mythology.

Aegina is named after the daughter of Asopos, who was abducted by Zeus. The Zeus transported her to this deserted an island and  fathered a son, Aiakos, who became one of the three judges of the underworld. According to archaeological evidence, Aegina was inhabited from the Neolithic era and is considered to be the birthplace of Aristophanes.

Pausanias writes that near the harbor there were temples dedicated to Aphrodite, Apollo, Artemis, Dionysus and Asclepiads. Of these temples  nothing  remains but a single Doric column from the 6th century temple of Apollo on the small picturesque hillock, called "Kolona". With time other temples were built on the island.

One of these is the temple to Aphaia that dates from the beginning of the 5 C. BC and was dedicated to Aphaia, a local divinity. The temple is approached by a ramp from the east near the sacrificial altars. The position of the temple, containing the statue of Aphaia, is clearly visible in the interior. South of the temple are traces of an entrance gate, the priest's lodgings, ruins of the propylon, altar and parts of the sanctuary.

The temple was later dedicated to the Goddess Athena. The temple has been described as "the most perfectly developed of the late archaic temples in European Hellas" and is well worth seeing. It has been said that if a line were drawn between the temple of Aphaia, the Acropolis and the temple at Sounion, it would reveal an equilateral triangle.

This is such an magnificent opportunity to join with Reiki people from all over the world.
